Urad Dal also called white lentil, is prominently used in preparing the batter for Idly, dosa, vada, and papads. It has high levels of iron, rich in dietary fibre, calcium, protein, magnesium, and potassium. The unpolished and whole Urad dal is free of any added chemicals or additives and retains its nutrient value. Urad Dal is believed to have originated in India and has been cultivated and consumed from ancient times. It is also one of the most popular pulses along with Toor Dal and Moong Dal.
